Kung Fu Panda

DreamWorks Animation is developing Kung Fu Panda, an animated film featuring the voice of Jack Black, which is set for 2008, Variety reported.
The film will be influenced by cartoonish live-action movies like Kung Fu Hustle and will star Black as the voice of a lazy panda prophesied to save the Valley of Peace, the trade paper reported.
The film will be directed by John Stevenson and Mark Osborne. Melissa Cobb will produce, from a screenplay by Dan Harmon and Rob Schrab.
For 2009 and beyond, DreamWorks Animation has four additional potential projects planned, including How to Train Your Dragon, Rex Havoc, It Came From Earth! and Route 66.

Dustin Hoffman, Jackie Chan and Ian McShane are set to join Jack Black in DreamWorks' animated comedy Kung Fu Panda, which will be released in May, 2008. Lucy Liu (Rise) is also discussions to star.
In the film, Black stars as Po the Panda, the laziest of all the animals in the Valley of Peace. With powerful enemies at the gates, all hope is pinned on a martial arts hero to rise to save the day. When Po unwittingly shows up in the midst of the martial arts competition, the masters are shocked to see that this unmotivated panda bears the mark of the Chosen One.
Hoffman will voice the role of Shifu, the by-the-book, tough-as-nails kung fu master whose task it is to transform Po into a fighter.
Chan will lend his voice to Master Monkey, a strong, agile and dedicated kung fu warrior, who serves as a daily reminder to Po of everything he is not.
Liu will be the voice of Master Viper, another of Po's teachers, who can be coy and feminine, but is capable of unleashing the warrior within.
McShane (Deadwood) will voice the villainous Tai Lung, a powerful snow leopard, intent on destroying the Valley of Peace.

DreamWorks Animation announced today that Academy Award®-winning actress Angelina Jolie will join Jack Black, Jackie Chan, Lucy Liu, Dustin Hoffman and Ian McShane in the cast of the computer-animated comedy Kung Fu Panda. The film will reunite Jolie and Black after having voiced lead characters together in the hit 2004 animated-comedy, Shark Tale.
Jolie will play Tigress, a martial arts master who joins in training Black's Po the Panda in the art of kung fu. Coming off the blockbuster hit Mr. & Mrs. Smith, Jolie recently completed work on The Good Shepherd, slated for release later this year, and is currently working on the Robert Zemeckis-directed Beowulf, which will be released in late 2007. She is represented by Media Talent Group.
Kung Fu Panda features Jack Black as Po the Panda, a lowly waiter in a noodle restaurant, who is a kung fu fanatic but whose shape doesn't exactly lend itself to kung fu fighting. In fact, Po's defining characteristic appears to be that he is the laziest of all the animals in ancient China. That's a problem because powerful enemies are at the gates, and all hopes have been pinned on a prophesy naming Po as the "Chosen One" to save the day. A group of martial arts masters are going to need a black belt in patience if they are going to turn this slacker panda into a kung fu fighter before it's too late.
Slated for release in May 2008, Kung Fu Panda is being directed by John Stevenson and Mark Osborne and produced by Melissa Cobb.

Oh, das heißt, noch über ein Jahr auf die DVD warten. Den muss ich wegen Jackie unbedingt im O-Ton gucken.

...und wg. allen anderen Voice-Actors. Die Besetzung ist unglaublich. Die deutsche Fassung wird dann bestimmt wieder von Soap- und B-Comedy-Darstellern übernommen.

Die Bilder lassen echt was kultiges vermuten, aber ich werde wohl auch auf die DVD warten, Ian McShane und Jack Black können von keinem deutschen Sprecher angemessen ersetzt werden
