Well, you guys did it now, you got behind the little indie film that could and propelled it to stardom. Following 2-weeks of nationwide midnight only sellouts and fan frenzy over the limited release hit thriller Paranormal Activity (review), moviegoers everywhere have been heard! Over 1,000,000 people from around the country demanded the film play in their city by logging on to ParanormalMovie.com. In response, Paramount Pictures will release the film nationwide beginning Friday, October 16th. Mark your calendars, it's on! Get ahead of the game as tickets for the movie will be on sale via ParanormalMovie.com by 5pm PST on Tuesday, October 13th. Wird (bislang) in nur 159 Kinos gezeigt, hat es aber auf Platz 5 in den USA geschafft! 
Ist mal wieder so ein Streifen, dem man den Erfolg einfach gönnt... 

The biggest surprise of the weekend had to be the explosive success of Oren Peli's low-budget horror flick Paranormal Activity (Paramount), as it jumped into the Top 10 at #5 with $7.1 million in just 159 theaters, an astounding per-theater average of over $44k per venue. That is similar to the record theater average set by Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus: The Best of Both Worlds last year, although that was in nearly four times as many theaters. Produced for roughly $11,000 two years ago, the movie has been given one of the most innovative marketing and distribution campaigns ever via Paramount's Demand It! site, which opened the movie in cities that received the most demands. After two weeks playing midnight-only shows in those cities, Paramount gave the movie a full release in over 40 cities, and by Friday night, the movie had attained the company's mandated "one million demands" in order to warrant a wide release. Paramount plans on opening it nationwide this coming Friday, October 16, although it hasn't been revealed yet how many theaters/cities will get it.

Paranormal Activity Reaches $100 Million Mark

The hit $15,000 thriller Paranormal Activity has grown from its midnight-only showings in a handful of college towns to become this year's biggest movie phenomenon, and will cross $100 million at the box office after only five weekends of national release as of Friday. In so doing, the movie has become the top grossing R-Rated thriller of the past decade.

Gestern gesehen und für durchaus gut befunden, auch wenn er dem Hype natürlich nicht gerecht wird (was er aber auch nicht kann). Die erste Stunde passiert nicht viel, aber dann geht's Schlag auf Schlag - buchstäblich. Die Hauptdarstellerin ist erschreckend gut, schön auch, wie ständig mit der Erwartungshaltung des Zuschauers gespielt wird. Die Tage wohl mehr ...

Wobei der Film für diesen ganzen absoluten Hype nichts kann. Oftmals haben es die ach so "schlauen Online-Kritiker" halt mit ihrem Superlativen. 

Naja, weniger meinte ich damit die positiven Kritiken, als vielmehr das Einspielergebnis, die Werbekamapgnen, der Hype in diversen Podcasts, usw.

Nene, so war das nicht gemeint, lies meinen Satz nochmal.

Diese Woche gesehen und für gut befunden. Ich mag solchen Doku-Style-Horror, denn der gruselt mit des Öfteren mehr, als so manches Hochglanzprodukt. Ein völlig dunkler Raum ist beim Gucken natürlich ein Muss. In der Nacht habe ich tatsächlich meine Haustür abgeschlossen, was ich sonst nie mache. Nicht, dass das Geister interessieren würde. Die letzten Schrittgeräusche im Film habe ich dann in meinen Traum eingebaut. Kurz: Der Film hat also sein Klassenziel erfüllt. Der beste Beweis, dass nur eine gute Grundidee reicht, um einen stimmigen Film bauen zu können. Die deutsche Scheibe erscheint meines Wissens am 31.03.10

Ich glaube ich gehe doch noch auf  
Es kommt selten vor, dass ich Tage nach dem Genuss noch großartig an den Film denke. Dieser ist einer davon. Der Film ist eine Belohnung für diejenigen, die mit Handkamerawackeln klar kommen und noch Fantasie haben. Ein gutes Beispiel, wie viel Effekt die Reduktion haben kann.
