Slash-in-the-Box is a horror short that runs about five minutes, and from the title alone you should already surmise what it’s about and how it isn’t going to end well for someone.

Slash-in-the-Box was written and directed by Nick Everhart (666: The Beast, 2012: Doomsday) with director of photography duty by Leigh Scott (Beast of Bray Road, The Witches of Oz) on a shoestring budget of $2,000. Elizabeth Masucci, Tyler Hollinger, and a not-so-innocent jack-in-the-box star.

In the mood to watch a good horror movie this Halloween? Before you do anything the “illegal” way, watch this spoof of 1950′s cautionary public service films and think twice. You know, because there was internet service back in the… 50′s. Starring Ed Ackerman (FROZEN, HATCHET II, THE CHANGE-UP), Dave Foy (HATCHET II, CHILLERAMA), and featuring the voice of Kevin Barbare (WAAF 107.3FM Boston Radio, “The Hillman Morning Show”), ArieScope’s 13th annual Halloween Short Film takes a light hearted swing at the illegal downloading predicament and it’s crippling effect on independent cinema.

"Shark Pool"

Every now and again a trailer comes along that's so fulfilling we don't even care if the movie it's advertising does or doesn't get made. This is one of those times. Dare you dip your toe into the blood-soaked waters of Shark Pool?

Woodhead Entertainment has just unleashed a trailer for the upcoming short film Shark Pool, directed by Tony Yacenda and starring Artie Baxter, Jonathan Lipnicki, Kojo Asiedu, Makinna Ridgeway, Sarah Baldwin, and Suzanne Quast with Sean Carrigan and Dan Perrault.

The premise, as you have may already guessed, is simple. There's a shark in a pool. Really, that's it. Dig on the hilarity below.

ROBOTS OF BRIXTON

Having run the film festival circuit for a while now, Kibwe Tavares' incredible short about an unemployed and unwanted robot workforce living in Brixton looks utterly astonishing. They even do drugs.

Brixton has degenerated into a disregarded area inhabited by London's new robot workforce - robots built and designed to carry out all of the tasks which humans are no longer inclined to do. The mechanical population of Brixton has rocketed, resulting in unplanned, cheap and quick additions to the skyline.

The film follows the trials and tribulations of young robots surviving at the sharp end of inner city life, living the predictable existence of a populous hemmed in by poverty, disillusionment and mass unemployment. When the Police invade the one space which the robots can call their own, the fierce and strained relationship between the two sides explodes into an outbreak of violence echoing that of 1981.

Rosa

The post apocalyptic and incredible short Rosa hit the web a few weeks back with a big splash. Shortly thereafter, Spanish comic artist Jesus Orellana who created the short over a years time, was pitching it to studios. And now, 20th Century Fox is in final negotiations for a live action version directed by Orellana himself. In case you missed it, watch it below!

ROSA is an epic sci-fi short film that takes place in a post-apocalyptic world where all natural life has disappeared. From the destruction awakes Rosa, a cyborg deployed from the Kernel project, mankind?s last attempt to restore the earth?s ecosystem. Rosa will soon learn that she is not the only entity that has awakened and must fight for her survival.
